The first Fair Pay Agreement for adult social care in England: £500m committed, negotiations from April 2027, first agreement from April 2028.
InLine Care Team · 19/10/2026

The government has committed £500 million for 2028–29 to the first-ever Fair Pay Agreement for adult social care in England.
How it will work: a new Adult Social Care Negotiating Body of employers and unions will negotiate pay and terms and conditions.
Timeline: negotiations are expected from April 2027, and the first agreement is due to take effect from April 2028.
For care providers: factor it into your 2027–28 budgets and fee negotiations with commissioners now.
For care workers: this is the first time pay and conditions will be negotiated sector-wide, so it's worth following the updates. Keeping your skills and certificates current keeps you ready for better-paid roles.
