DBS check fees cut from 5 October 2026: the new prices

Enhanced DBS checks now cost £41, Basic and Standard £20, and the DBS Update Service £15 a year. What changed on 5 October 2026.

DBS checks got cheaper on 5 October 2026.

• Enhanced: £41 (was £49.50)
• Standard: £20 (was £21.50)
• Basic: £20 (was £21.50)
• Update Service: £15 a year

For care workers: if you join the Update Service, a new employer can check your certificate online instead of you applying again.

For providers: lower fees cut onboarding costs. Encourage new starters to join the Update Service so you can do status checks online. InLine's Ready to Start check packs organise identity, right to work, references and DBS, and employer suitability decisions stay with you.
